Clayton Eshleman is the author of ten books of poetry, including From Scratch (1998) and The Name Encanyoned River: Selected Poems 1960-1985 (1985), both from Black Sparrow Press. He founded and edited Caterpillar (1967 – 1974) and Sulfur (1981 – 2000). In 1979, he received the National Book Award for his co-translation of C�sar Vallejo�s Complete Posthumous Poetry (California, 1980). His poems in this issue will be included in My Devotion, which will appear this summer from Black Sparrow Press. (2002)
