Beating out Frank Bidart and Ruth Stone for the award, W.S. Merwin won this year’s (and his second overall) Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for The Shadow of Sirius (Copper Canyon). In 1971, his The Carrier of Ladders garnered the prize.
