Katharine S. White (1892-1977) was Fiction Editor for The New Yorker from 1925 to 1960. Her book Onward and Upward in the Garden (FSG, 1979) includes 14 pieces that first appeared in The New Yorker and were posthumously collected by her husband E.B. White.
