Amjad Nasser was born in 1955 in Mafraq, Jordan. The most recent of his seven books of poetry is Hayatu ka Sardun Mutaqata’ [Life Like a Broken Narrative] (Banipal, 2004). His memoir, Khabtul Al-Ajniha [The Flapping of Wings] (London, 1996), and travel essays, Tahta Akthar Min Samaa [Under More Than One Sky] (Beiroet), appeared in 2002. A leading figure in the free verse movement (qassidat al-nathr), Nasser is considered among the best poets of his generation. He lives in London and works as a cultural editor for the daily newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi. [bio updated 2011]
