Martin, Charles

Charles Martin’s translation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses (W.W. Norton, 2003) won the Harold Morton Landon Translation Award from the Academy of American Poets. His fourth book of poems, Starting From Sleep (Overlook, 2002), was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and was a finalist for the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets. In 2005, he received an Academy Award for Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. [bio updated 2011]
