Jerzy Kronhold is a founding member of the New Wave (also known as the Generation of ‘68), which includes Stanislaw Branczak, Adam Zagajewski, Ryszard Krynicki, Julian Kornhauser, and Ewa Lipska. He grew up in Cieszyn, a city on the Polish-Czech border, studied in Krakow, and then returned to his hometown. Today he directs the Polish cultural institute in Bratislava. These poems are from The Age of Bronze (Wiek Brazu), his third collection, which was published in Poland in 2000. His poetry appears in Smartish Pace, Issue 12.
