Peter Cooley was Poetry Editor for North American Review from 1970-2000. The most recent of his six books of poetry are The Astonished Hours (1993) and Sacred Conversations (1998), both from Carnegie Mellon. �Meridian with Nocturne Subtext� is included in his new volume, A Place Made of Starlight, which will appear this December from Carnegie Mellon. He is Professor of English at Tulane University where he teaches creative writing. (2001)
