Lisa Russ Spaar won the poetry prize for “Satin Cash,” her fourth book of poems. She is a professor of English at the University of Virginia. Spaar’s poems can be found in Smartish Pace, Issue 8, and her SP poetry reading from May 19, 2009 can be found in the media section of this website.
Finalists for the prize included Claudia Emerson for “Figure Studies: Poems” and Eric Pankey for “The Pear as One Example.” Emerson’s poems are in SP Issues 4, 10 and 11; Pankey’s poems are in SP Issue 12, and his SP Poetry Reading on June 12, 2009 can be found in our media section.
