The Poets House is reopening in lower Manhattan on Friday. Musician Natalie Merchant and poets, including U.S. Poet Laureate Kay Ryan, will perform at an “Invocation of the Muse” on Saturday, Sept. 26. The literary center offers more than 200 public programs a year, including readings and writing workshops. In May the first poetry reading at the new building was given by Actor Bill Murray to construction workers. Poets House is a non-profit and has a 60-year lease for $1 a year and will save an estimated $60 million in rent.
