Replacing Andrew Motion, Carol Ann Duffy was named to a 10-year term as the United Kingdom’s Poet Laureate. The first woman and first openly gay poet serving in the post, she follows in the footsteps of some of the greatest one-namers out there: Spenser, Jonson, Dryden, Wordsworth, Tennyson, and Hughes.
