Odelius, Kristy
Kristy Odelius is the author of Bee Spit (Dancing Girl, 2007) and Strange Trades (Shearsman, 2008). She lives in Chicago and is Associate Professor of English at North Park University, where she teaches creative writing and British Romantic literature. [bio updated 2011]
Oleschinski, Brigitte
Brigitte Oleschinski was born in 1955 in Cologne, Germany, and lives in Berlin. She has published two volumes of poetry and three volumes of essays, most recently Argo Cargo (Verlag Das Wunderhorn, Heidelberg, 2003), which includes a CD. Her new poetry collection, Geisterströmung {Spirit Stream], which includes the poems published here, will be published by DuMont (Cologne) next fall. (2004)
Olson, Socorro L.
Socorro L. Olson lives in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and works as a secretary in the Fine Arts Department of the Fond du Lac School District. Her poems have appeared in The Reporter, a local newspaper, and in 45 South. (2000)
Orem, William
William Orem had his poetry nominated for the Pushcart Prize by Sulpher River Literary Review, where he was the featured artist of a recent issue. His poetry has appeared in The Princeton Arts Review, Midwest Poetry Review and The Piedmont Literary Review. They have also appeared in a number of anthologies including: The Penware National Poetry Award Anthology and Andrei Codrescu’s Exquisite Corpse. His stories and articles have appeared in Plot, The Potomac Review and Willow Springs. His first novel, Zombie, You my Love, was published earlier this year. (2000)
Orr, Gregory
Gregory Orr’s poems in Smartish Pace, Issue 15, are from his tenth book, a book-length sequence titled How Beautiful The Beloved (forthcoming, Copper Canyon, 2009). This book continues the trajectory of his previous collection, Concerning the Book That is the Body of the Beloved (Copper Canyon, 2005). He teaches at the University of Virginia, where he founded its MFA in Creative Writing Program. He read in the Smartish Pace Reading Series at The Walters Art Museum in the summer of 2008. Ostriker, Alicia
Alicia Ostriker, twice nominated for a National Book Award, is the author of ten volumes of poetry, most recently The Volcano Sequence (Pittsburgh, 2002). In 2000, the University of Michigan published her book Dancing at the Devil’s Party: Essays on Poetry, Politics and the Erotic. She teaches English and Creative Writing at Rutgers University. (2003)
O’Loughlin, Michael
Michael O’Loughlin was born in Dublin in 1958. His poetry collections are Stalingrad: The Street Dictionary (Dublin, Raven Press, 1980); Atlantic Blues (Dublin, Raven Arts Press, 1982); The Diary of a Silence (Raven Arts Press, 1985); and Another Nation, New & Selected Poems (Dublin, New Island Books, 1994/UK Arc Publications, 1996). He has also published a collection of short stories, The Inside Story (Raven Arts Press, 1999); a critical essay, After Kavanagh: Patrick Kavanagh and the Discourse of Contemporary Irish Poetry (Raven Arts Press, 1985); and his translation of the Dutch poet Gerrit Achterberg’s selected poems, Hidden Weddings (Raven Arts Press, 1987). He has lived for many years in continental Europe and now lives in Dublin.
